Quebec's First LEED v4 Certification for a Large-Scale Hospital Project

June 2nd 2026

We are thrilled to announce that the mother-child and emergency centre (Pavillon Enfant Soleil) at Hôpital Fleurimont in Sherbrooke has achieved LEED v4 Silver certification. The Silver rating, earned with 58 points, reflects the team's unwavering commitment and the environmental ambition carried through every stage of this first large-scale specialized-care hospital project to be certified under the LEED v4 system.

Strategies adopted include building on a former parking lot to preserve green spaces; white and mineral roofing; measures promoting active and electric transportation; low-flow water fixtures; low-emission materials and high-efficiency filters ensuring excellent indoor air quality; low-maintenance landscaping supporting biodiversity; increased natural light and quality views of the surrounding natural landscape; and biophilic design evoking nature.

We would like to congratulate the Société québécoise des infrastructures and the CIUSSS de l'Estrie – CHUS for their vision and commitment to sustainability, and to thank all project partners for their invaluable collaboration.
