Gold Certifications and Finalist Projects at the Grands Prix du design
The Mother-Child and Emergency Centre at the Fleurimont Hospital in Sherbrooke, designed in consortium with Yelle Maillé and Équipe A, and the final phase of the refurbishment of our offices have earned Gold certifications at the Grands Prix du design. While the Fleurimont Hospital project was recognized in the Institutional, Civic & Education Building / Hospital & Healthcare Building; Special Award / Architecture + Art & Artistic Integration; Special Award / Architecture + Color & Atmospheres; and Special Award / Social Impact & Accessibility categories, the transformation of the ground floor of the former industrial building that houses our offices earned a Gold certification in the Special Award / Architecture + Wood category. These distinctions automatically make both projects finalists in each of these categories and eligible for the Grand Winner title.
Delivered at the end of a mandate spanning more than a decade, the 34,500 m² hospital pavilion brings together under one roof the emergency, child psychiatry, pediatric, maternity and neonatology services of the Fleurimont Hospital. Its design draws on natural light, wood, colour and the extensive integration of artwork to create a healing, soothing and welcoming environment, conceived as much for young patients and their loved ones as for the care staff. The first major specialized-care hospital project in Quebec to earn LEED v4 certification, it also achieved the Silver level.
The redevelopment of our ground floor, which showcases the exposed structure of the century-old building the firm acquired in the late 1970s and features a striking wood ceiling, also earned Silver certifications in the Commercial & Hospitality Building / Office Building and Special Award / Architecture + Ceiling categories. Beyond improving acoustic comfort and integrating the light fixtures, this centrepiece gives the space a warm atmosphere conducive to both serenity and creativity.
All projects entered in the 19th edition are in the running for the People's Choice Award.
