CERTITrams selected for independent certification of the TramCité project: Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes mandated for the architecture component

June 8th 2026

Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes is pleased to announce its contribution of expertise in architecture and rail transport infrastructure to the CERTITrams consortium. Composed of CERTIFER Canada as lead firm, EXP and Transamo Canada, with the key contribution of Socanin, the consortium has been entrusted by CDPQ Infra with the mission of carrying out independent certification of the TramCité project. This urban tramway project in the city of Québec will connect several neighbourhoods across a 19-kilometre alignment with 29 stations.

As independent certifier, CERTITrams will be responsible for monitoring the progress of this project. The consortium will bring together the diverse expertise of its members, including certification and engineering of railway systems and infrastructure, architecture, project management, and operability-maintainability. Its team will attest that the selected partners — responsible for preparatory works, infrastructure, systems and rolling stock — are delivering the project in accordance with the design defined during the co-development phase, as well as the agreed schedule and budget framework.

The contract awarded to CERTITrams includes, among other things:

  • monitoring project progress and interface milestones;
  • attesting to compliance with contractual commitments for the construction, testing, commissioning and acceptance of the transit system;
  • attesting to suppliers' payable items for payment purposes;
  • supporting transparent and structured project governance throughout delivery.

Within the CERTITrams consortium, the firm is proud to contribute to the success of one of the Capitale-Nationale's largest urban mobility projects, drawing on expertise built over more than four decades of commitment to transport infrastructure in Québec. A partner of the Société de transport de Montréal for over 40 years, the firm has designed, among other projects, the Côte-Vertu métro station, entrance pavilions integrated into major institutional projects — including the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, the UQAM campus, the Université de Montréal Campus in Laval and the Université de Sherbrooke Campus in Longueuil — as well as an underground garage for the parking and maintenance of Azur trains, inaugurated in 2022. The firm's professionals also contribute to the upkeep of the network's infrastructure and the extension of the Blue Line. Combining its expertise in airport and rail transport, the firm has been engaged since 2018 in the planning, design and delivery of the REM station at the airport.

The work will span the entire project lifecycle, from 2026 through to the final acceptance of the tramway, two years after its planned commissioning in 2033.
